I was going to write liner notes for each song comparison, but honestly, I’d rather people listen and derive what they would from it. Generally, Springsteen’s album is an angry, blues/pop howl into the universe about youth and how despair and hope go hand in hand in that period of life. Sometimes I went literal on the interpretation (Stark Weather being an example), sometimes I responded thematically, sometimes I just wanted to evoke a mood. I included Darkness on the Edge of Town in my playlist so you can hope back and forth. Enjoy!
